And God planted a garden in Eden, toward the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. He made every kind of tree grow out of the ground, yielding fruit that was pleasant to the sight and good for food. He planted the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the middle of the garden. A river went out from Eden to water the garden, and there it parted and became four heads. The name of the first is Pishon. It flows around the whole land of Havilah, the land of gold. The gold in that land is of the highest quality, and there are spices and coral stones there. The name of the second river is Gihon. It flows around the land of Cush. The name of the third river is the Tigris. It flows along the east side of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates. The Lord God put Adam and Eve there.
